Green Thumbs Are For Wusses

Hi, I’m the Garden Pixie and a green thumb I do not have. Well, that’s not entirely accurate. Once upon a time, many, many years ago, I was able to grow things, but somewhere in the course of life, I forgot how.

My thumb slowly turned from a light shade of green to completely black and shriveled. To give you an idea just how bad it is, I’ve managed to kill a cactus. Yes, folks, a cactus. Probably one of the easiest plants to grow and maintain simply because they don’t need much water, sun, or attention. Yet, somehow, I managed to do the impossible.

Now, I do enjoy nature and green things, which is why I’m trying to change all that. This blog is basically where I chronicle the lessons I learn along with the progress I make. Feel free to jump in and offer your best advice to help me out whenever the mood strikes you.

And just so you’ll have some stats about my gardening conditions:

I live in sunny South Florida, which means I can grow almost anything down here and don’t need to worry too much about frost and whatnot. (At least, that’s what I’m thinking.)

I do not have a bed. Basically, my front and back porch is made out of marble and some weird rocky material respectively. That means all of my flower growing must occur in pots, planters, and other size limited containers.

Gardening terminology is lost upon me, so don’t be too afraid if you hear terms such as “flying thingies” and “dirt in a big bag” bandied about.
